1. It boosts the immune system
According to recent studies and statistics, sexually active people take less sick days than sexually inactive people. Furthermore, researchers at Wilkes University in Pennsylvania, discovered that the bodies of sexually active students contained double the amount of certain antibodies than the bodies of students who weren’t having sex. As you can probably guess, there is only one conclusion to be made here: sex boosts your immune system.
Why is that happening? well, scientists are baffled, but they think that intimacy and the exchange of bodily fluids that sends the immune system into overdrive. In other words, it forces it to adapt a “better safe than sorry” strategy.
2. It prevents the appearance of incontinence problems in women
About 30% of women develop incontinence as they grow older. Incontinence is caused by having weak pelvic floor muscles. Sex is the best workout for those muscles. This is who women who have sex often have very low chances of developing incontinence problems down the line.
3. It’s good for blood pressure
This is another benefit whose existence is baffling researchers all over the world. According to many studies, there is a definite connection between sex and systolic blood pressure. What they have noticed, is that systolic blood pressure tends to drop a lot after sex. What is strange however, is the fact that this happens ONLY after sex and not after masturbation.
4. It keeps heart attack at bay
Remember the old saying “an apple a day keeps the doctor away”? Well, that can be changed to “a healthy sex life keeps the cardiologist away”. I know that it doesn’t rhyme, but just roll with it! The reason for that is the fact that sex raises the heart rate and provides the heart with a much needed workout. The heart is a muscle after all and it needs a good workout every now and then.
What’s more, sex also helps keep in balance the amounts of testosterone and estrogen in the body. To put this into perspective, according to a recent study, men who had sex twice a week were half as likely to develop heart disease than men who had sex once a week or not at all.
5. It can cure insomnia
If you have trouble sleeping, then perhaps a good orgasm is all you need to fall asleep! Hey, it beats counting sheep, doesn’t it? This happens a hormone called prolactin gets released into your body after an orgasm. This hormone brings with it feelings of relaxation and sleepiness. In other words, an orgasm can also do the same job as a sleeping pill.
6. It keeps prostate cancer away
Studies have shown that men who ejaculate often, at least 21 times a month, are at lower risk of developing prostate cancer. It should be said that the ejaculation doesn’t have to be caused by sex, masturbation and nocturnal emission were also taken into consideration, but why go with the alternatives instead of the real thing?
